ANKHAMUN AND UTOPIA SPHYNX

Pricing and Purchase Information

Our pet kittens are usually priced at $1000.00.  The purchase price includes all vaccinations needed for the first year of life, spay/neuter surgery (done before going to their new home), microchipping, and registration fees.  Our kittens do not leave until they are 4 months of age, so that all of these things may be done for them, and so that they are properly socialized to go to a new family.  Occasionally kittens are available for $600.00 - $900.00.  This only happens if we produce a kitten that is extra fuzzy and doesn't conform to what people are looking for as a "Sphynx".  We are available for help with any kitten purchased from us for the lifetime of the kitten.  They are born as members of our family, and remain so forever.  We take what we do with Sphynx very seriously.

Buyer Beware:      You may find Sphynx kittens for sale on the internet for a wide range of prices.  The same goes for any other breed of cat, as well as other pets.  Unfortunately there are people out there breeding Sphynx to make a buck.  They often produce so many kittens that they have to sell them very cheaply to "get rid of them".  They usually do not know how to properly care for breeding animals, don't care to spend money on vet bills themselves,  and end up selling sick kittens that are a heartbreak and massive expense to their new owners.  They often do not do health screening for known breed-related problems (in Sphynx this is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) and therefore perpetuate genetic disease that is, again, heartbreaking and extremely expensive for the new owners.  These breeders usually do not have any purchase contract, or if there is one it does not contain a health guarantee with specific clauses for what happens if the purchased kitten becomes ill.

Whether you purchase a kitten or cat from us or another breeder please protect yourself and your new family member in the following ways:

Visit the home where the kittens are being bred and housed.  If you do not feel completely comfortable with the conditions of the home, the health of all the cats in the home, etc. do not purchase a kitten!

Ask for a copy of the breeder's contract and read it.  It should contain information about what happens if the purchased kitten become ill (a health guarantee).  It should, in detail, outline the responsibilities of the purchaser and the breeder.

Discuss breed-related health issues and what the breeder is doing to prevent them.

Ask how long the breeder has been involved with the breed and actively breeding.
